The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the UK governments methodology for measuring energy efficiency and CO₂ emission for new, converted or extended residential dwellings. All certificates are required to be submitted by your local building control to meet the compliance regulations.
SAP Calculations - New Builds & Extensions
If you’re planning to build an extension to your property, that includes a large area of glazing, you are likely to be asked for an Extension SAP Calculation.
By using the ‘Whole Dwelling Calculation Method’ we’ll help to justify the amount of glazing to be used. From the latest SAP software we’ll show ‘that the calculated carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rate from the dwelling with its proposed extension is no greater than for the dwelling plus a notional extension’ (built to the standards set out in Part L 1 B – Building Reg’s)
EPC - New Builds
EPC are required for rental properties or selling purposes as it will be against the law to grant a new lease or renew an existing lease on homes with an energy rating of an F or G.
From 1st April 2020, this will extend to all privately rented residential properties – irrespective of whether it is a new lease or not.
